Bologna anni ’80 e ’90

Sono sempre state le scuole d’arte e di grafica le culle dei writers in erba, dove si potevano carpire info importanti e conoscere persone attive; io invece, da puro nerd, frequentavo il classico, il pesantissimo Galvani dove isolato da tutti credevo almeno di essere il primo a professare e sostenere questa nuova cultura emergente* ( *per noi italiani). Una mattina invece, mentre cazzeggiavo nei bagni, ecco che in mezzo ai soliti porno-scarabocchi da cesso scolastico, beccai un grandioso Shan-R, in marker a scalpello nero, posizionato strategicamente molto in alto, la dove i bidelli faticano a pulire: quel bagno divenne la mia nuova mecca! Shan-R , per chi non lo sapesse, era un vero braccio destro del Pioneer, per alcuni versi anche più intimo di ZeroT, certamente non un subalterno come Magma o Mined. Lui e Dayaki dipingevano assieme, rappavano assieme, sognavano assieme: uno dei grandi di Bologna, e forse anche d’Italia, era nella mia scuola! Fantastico, avrei avuto finalmente il mio contatto per un ingresso in pompa magna tra i migliori. Ma chi era? Che classe frequentava? Come era fatto? Cerca cerca ma non trovai un cazzo; questo perché Shan-R ha cinque anni più di me e quando io sono entrato lui è uscito! Fuck .
Nonostante tutto è ancora  motivo di vanto per me aver fatto la sua stessa scuola; writers from classico sono ancora rari.
Col passare degli anni incontrai Shan-R solo sotto forma di Deda, quando ormai i nostri interessi avevano preso strade diverse e non lo “impezzai” mai.

One morning, however, while I was fuckin around in the bathrooms, right in middle of the usual porn-scribbles in the school toilet, i spotted a great Shan-R tag, with a black marker done with a chisel, strategically located very high up, where the janitors struggle to clean:that bathroom became my new mecca! Shan-R , for those unaware, true right arm of the Pioneer, in some ways more intimate than ZeroT, certainly not as a subordinate of Magma or Mined. He and Dayak painted together, freestyled together, dreamed together: one of the greatest of Bologna, and perhaps of Italy, in my school! Great, I finally had my contact for entry in first class among the best. But who was he? What class? what did he look like? I Search and search again but did not find him; because this because Shan-R was five years older than me and when I entered he came out! Fuck.
Although everything is still a source of pride for me to have done the same school;because classical school writers are still rare.
Over the years I met Shan-R only as Deda, by this time our interests had taken different paths and I never had the chance to ask him anything.

Il suo aka mi affascinò da subito, era tagliente, potente da pronunciare e con il trattino prima della R rasentava l’eccesso in quei fine anni ottanta; ma allo stesso tempo era uno scoglio insormontabile, non capivo da dove fosse uscito quel nome. Ho cercato sul vocabolario di inglese, greco e latino, ma niente! L’ho anagrammato in tutti i modi, ma non ne uscivo. Perché aveva scelto quel nome? che senso aveva? cosa si nascondeva dietro? ero troppo curioso. Alla fine ho ceduto e ho dovuto chiedere in giro e scoprire che è una tag di fantasia ispirata a un romanzo anch’esso di fantasia: La Spada di Shannara!

His aka fascinated me from the beginning, it was sharp, powerful to pronounce and with the dash before the R bordered in excess in those late eighties; but at the same time it was an insurmountable obstacle, I did not understand where that name came out. I searched on the english vocabulary, Latin and greek, but nothing! I analized it in every way, but I couldt figured it out. Why he had chosen that name ? what was the point? what was behind? I was too curious. I finally gave in and had to ask around and finally found out that it was a fantasy name inspired by a fantasy book: The Sword of Shannara!

Che ci crediate o no, per lui che era il mio mito del momento, comprai e lessi l’intero libro, un bel tomo: ricordo ancora i personaggi più belli della saga, Shea Ohmsford, Allanon, Panamon Creel, Orl Fane; per mesi fui tentato di usarli come aka, ma dopo mesi di tagging in casa decisi di tenermi il mio nome di ghiaccio.

Questo Power Move credo che fosse il suo primo pezzo. Un’esplosione di colori lungo la linea ferroviaria, esattamente in Sub San Donato, certamente arricchito con qualche Malibu rubata da Palombo, riempito come insegnavano i “veterani” tedeschi del Flohmarkt; dipinto assieme al Rusty, fu siglato E-330, una temporary crew che durò poco per poi lasciare spazio alla SPA, forse non la stessa crew che conoscete tutti, ma certamente ne fu l’incipit.

I think This Power Move was his first piece. An explosion of colors on the railway line, exactly at Sub San Donato, certainly enriched with some Malibu cans stolen from Palombo, filled as taught by the veterans of the German Flohmarkt; painted along with Rusty, was signed E-330, a temporary crew that did not last long wich then gived way to the SPA, maybe not the same crew that all know, but certainly it was is the beginning.

In Gone Mad si può vedere la scritta SPA già attiva alla fine degli 80, in un pezzato fatto col Pioneer ai giardini margherita di Bologna. Che tempi. Il King One qui aveva già cominciato la sua “evoluzione dei nomi”, e optò per un Dart, semplice ma pungente in quegli anni di lotte culturali e sociali. Ora vi ho introdotto Shan-R, poi vi mostrerò i pezzi più famosi che ha fatto con Dayaki, sia per stile ma soprattutto per posizione strategica!

In Gone Mad you can see the SPA tag,already active at the end of 80’s, in a master piece done with the Pioneer at the Margherita Gardens in Bologna. The good old days!. The King One here had already begun his “evolution of names”, and opted for Dart, simple but stinging in those years of cultural and social struggles.
